Now, a biography:
I was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the oldest of three sons to my parents, Liz and Greg. Growing up, I took a quick learn to reading of all kinds, and using and playing games on computers. I remember thinking that I would be a scientist when I grew up, and enjoyed explaining Einstein and black holes to my third grade class. My grandmother bought me a huge dictionary when I was about 10, and it was an awesome gift.
For most of my life, I’ve been into computers. I remember my dad teaching me how to use DOS when I was 4 to get into the games on his computer. Computers and video games were my primary interest all through grade school and high school. During high school, though, I started to realize that I had a love of music, history, and other subjects. I went to college expecting to get a degree in music composition, and I left (from a different university) with a degree in French and history and a minor in theology. Go figure. And, of course, I worked technology jobs during that whole time.
After college, I taught French for a year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After my stint at grad school ended, I went back to working in tech, and have been working for Apple ever since.
During summer of 2008, I met the love of my life, Amanda, on a study abroad trip in France. Six weeks after meeting, we were dating, meeting parents, and generally knowing that we belonged together. We’ll be welcoming a third member of our family at the end of this year.
Colophon: Keeping track of the tools that I use is interesting for many people, so I’ve made a page for that.
